Sr. Project Interior Designer

Job Description:


A Sr. Project Interior Designer in the ID Studio is responsible for leading the design efforts on assigned projects from concept through completion. The Senior Designer develops the design concept independently or in collaboration with the Design Director and ensures that all project components are fully designed and coordinated through the VE and CD phases.
Tasks include:

  • Design, concept, space planning, presentations and thorough/appropriate design solutions that address clients known and discovered needs.
  • Manage a design within both fee and project costs parameters.
  • Revit /CAD: creating complete documents (for all phases) creating redlines for self and team, assisting the team to produce all drawings.
  • Specifications: selection and/ or assisting with selection of furnishings/ equipment, selection of finish materials, creation of specs., picking up redlines, etc. Documentation of specification within drawings, spreadsheets, and creation of specification books/ physical deliverables.
  • Create or assist with creation of presentations. A strong graphics knowledge is needed.
  • Create and manage budgets for selected or optional equipment, graphics, signage, furnishings or other scope.
  • Work closely with the DD/PM to ensure designs are complete, thoughtful, budget/fee appropriate.
  • Aid the team in coordination of documents to ensure the essential design is appropriately coordinated with all trades, mentor team, staff and design resources.
  • Re-visit the design goals / client objects periodically and throughout any VE phase to ensure delivery of a thoughtful, appropriate design.
  • Strive for design excellence within all project market segments / budgets
  • Aid PM in client management.



The role requires a strong working knowledge of MEP systems, security, hardware, and typical A/V systems. A Senior Designer is expected to actively participate in production using tools such as Revit, CAD, InDesign, and Excel, and to collaborate with the project team on more complex design and technical components as needed to successfully document the design at every phase.

A commitment to continuous learning and a thorough understanding of both design and construction is essential. An effective Senior Designer asks thoughtful questions, shares knowledge, and mentors team members to ensure collective growth and understanding of assigned tasks and trade-related issues.
This position demands strong personal time management skills, including the ability to track time accurately and manage project fees and budgets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, along with the ability to present to clients and build strong professional relationships.
Senior Designers are expected to actively pursue professional growth and represent the firm positively. NBA strongly recommends that individuals at this level obtain NCIDQ certification and participate in one or more professional organizations.
