GEMS is growing our Aviation team and seeking a seasoned Project Manager IV – Low Voltage Systems Integrator to lead complex IT and special systems integration across multiple terminal projects at LAX under the Terminal Development Program.
As LAWA’s trusted partner, GEMS provides program, project, and construction management services that keep major aviation programs on track. In this role, you will serve as the primary IT liaison and owner’s representative, working closely with agency Information Management & Technology (IMT), system owners, airline partners, and contractors to deliver integrated, secure, and future‑ready airport systems.
What you’ll do
- Lead IT and special systems integration for terminal projects, including network systems and airport operational technologies.
- Act as primary liaison with LAWA IMT, CBP, TSA, cyber security, and system owners for infrastructure and integration requirements.
- Oversee design, buildout, and commissioning of IT rooms, networks, horizontal and backbone cabling.
- Drive integration workshops from design through deployment for:
- Passenger processing systems, terminal management systems, baggage handling systems
- CCTV, access control (ACAMS), FIDS, PA, Wi‑Fi, VDGS, emergency notification, ramp services management
- Building/mechanical systems including BAS, lighting control, power metering & controls, conveyance monitoring, and FMCS
- Review and validate IT scope and integration costs and support change management for new and legacy systems.
- Coordinate testing and commissioning, including shop drawing reviews, FAT/SAT, mockups, and closeout documentation.
- Maintain stakeholder alignment on scope, schedule, budget, and risk while supporting timely issue resolution.

What you bring
- 15+ years of experience, preferably on large, complex airport projects.
- Proven experience as a systems integrator for: passenger processing, terminal management, baggage handling, BAS, lighting control, aircraft guidance, and related airport systems.
- Track record delivering projects over $100M using Design‑Bid‑Build, CMAR, and Design‑Build.
- Strong knowledge of IT design and construction practices in active airport environments and LAWA‑style change management and integration processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Aviation, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, or related technical field.
- Professional credentials strongly preferred (e.g., PE, PMP, LEED, AAAE, AICP).
