Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer I (3024)

Purpose of Position:

Senior Quality Assurance Engineer I works collaboratively with a team of QA resources focused on detecting software defects prior to release. The position is responsible ensuring the quality, reliability, usability, and performance of applications being developed and delivered to internal and external customers is met. This is a hands-on position where you will be expected to both oversee and perform essential QA functions.


Essential Functions
  • Be the voice for quality, and ensure all products and deliverables are thoroughly tested before release
  • Collaborate with team and implement QA process within established software development framework
  • Lead and manage the efficiency, productivity and processes of the onshore and offshore QA team
  • Participate in all phases of software development projects to provide a quality perspective
  • Become the subject matter expert on all application features and evaluate product specifications for testability
  • Align with project team members on understanding of business requirements and write detailed test cases
  • Devise test strategies to cover requirements, develop high-level test scenarios that implement the strategy, and elaborate scenarios into detailed test cases to ensure that requirements and quality objectives are met
  • Execute tests, write bugs, track, evaluate and report results to development team
  • Be the subject matter expert and participate in process improvement of Quality Assurance and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)C processes, methods and systems
  • Develop and maintain detailed automated test cases using a scalable test framework
  • Support and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as needed
  • Performs other business tasks or functions as assigned
  • Report time and track tasks .
  • On-site regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Required Technical Skills

  • Experience in structured testing methodologies
  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), creation of project/work level estimates based on requirements and test coverage.
  • Experience in legacy and web-based application testing including cross-browser and mobile device compatibility
  • Experience in all phases of testing including data preparation, test case design, test execution and analysis of test results
  • Experience in functional, regression, smoke and performance testing
  • Experience in test writing and bug reporting tool- Team Foundation Server (TFS) or similar tool
  • Experience working with onshore and offshore QA engineers to develop test plans, test cases, execute all testing and manage defect tracking and reporting
  • Requires 1 year experience using Selenium, UFT or similar tool including writing and troubleshooting automation scripts
  • Adhere to all PHI (Protected Health Information) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines.

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of relational databases and Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Knowledge of Legacy system
  • Knowledge of console-based systems
  • Knowledge of custom off-the-shelf systems
  • Some knowledge of Word & Brown business processes
  • Knowledge with implementing and administering the automation framework of Selenium, UFT or similar automation tool

Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in related field
  • Minimum 5 year of experience in functional, regression, smoke, user acceptance and performance testing
  • Understanding of health insurance industry is preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time and occasional walking
  • Must be able to communicate face-to-face and on the phone with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to use a keyboard and other office equipment
  • Working environment is stable and noise level is moderate
  • Must be able to work extended hours including evenings and weekends as required
  • On-call availability as needed
