Job Description

Job Title: Senior Research Associate – Computational Pathology Scientist

Grade: 25

Location: Santa Monica, CA

Reports To: Sr Director, Nonclinical Safety

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain pathology image analysis workflows using commercial and open-source platforms (e.g., Visiopharm, HALO, QuPath, CellProfiler).
  • Collaborate with pathologists and scientists to define image analysis needs and translate biological questions into computational solutions.
  • Perform quantitative analysis of histological and immunohistochemical images to support preclinical studies.
  • Curate, annotate, and manage large-scale digital pathology datasets.
  • Integrate image analysis results with other data modalities (e.g., omics, clinical metadata) to support translational research.
  • Analyze spatial transcriptomic and proteomic data to uncover tissue-level molecular patterns and cellular interactions.
  • Ensure reproducibility and documentation of workflows, including version control and validation.
  • Provide training and support to team members on image analysis tools and best practices.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies in computational pathology and digital image analysis.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field with 2+ years of experience.
  • Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field with 0+ years of experience.·

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in computational pathology or a related field.
  • Proficiency with image analysis software and scripting languages (e.g., Python, R).
  • Proficiency with AWS Cloud computing services including Lambda, EC2, S3, Cloudwatch
  • Familiarity with histopathology and tissue-based assays.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Knowledge of machine learning or deep learning approaches for image analysis.
  • Extensive experience with Benching, including Benching API and Benching Apps.
  • Substantial knowledge of pathology, cell biology, and molecular biology.
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and database design.

Experience working in a pharmaceutical or biotech research environment.


The salary range for this position is: $86,275.00 - $111,650.00. Kite considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
