Job Description – MS SQL Database Administrator (DBA)Role

We are looking for a highly skilled MS SQL Database Administrator (DBA) responsible for managing SQL Server environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, availability, and reliability. The role demands deep expertise in SQL internal components, configuration, performance tuning, monitoring, HA/DR, security, troubleshooting, and strong knowledge of Windows OS, networking, and storage.

Key Responsibilities

1. SQL Internal & Configuration

• Data, log, storage, memory, CPU configuration
• Server and database configuration
• Access and permission management
• Backup – restore operations

2. Performance Management

• Performance tuning:
• Index
• Statistics
• Query optimization
• Monitoring and fixing performance bottlenecks
• Analyzing execution plans and improving overall database performance

3. Monitoring & Log Management

• SCOM
• Event Viewer
• Error Logs
• Cluster Logs
• Real-time monitoring, alerting, and incident handling

4. High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR)

• Switchover / Switchback
• Log Shipping
• Clustering
• Always On Availability Groups (AOAG)
• HA/DR design, implementation, failover testing, and recovery planning

5. Database Security & Compliance

• Authentication and authorization
• Access control & permission audit
• Compliance with internal and industry standards
• Implementing database-level security and encryption

6. Troubleshooting & Operations

• SQL Profiler
• Extended Events
• Blockage analysis
• Failover
• Upgrade
• Migrate
• Patching
• End-to-end troubleshooting of SQL Server issues

7. Operating System, Network & Storage Knowledge

• Basic knowledge of Windows OS
• Basic knowledge of network concepts
• Basic knowledge of storage systems

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of SQL Server architecture
• Hands-on experience with performance tuning, HA/DR, and monitoring
• Ability to troubleshoot complex SQL Server issues
• Good knowledge of access, security, backup & restore
• Experience with Windows OS, networking, and storage fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale database environments
• Knowledge of automation, scripting, and advanced SQL Server features
• Certification in SQL Server or Azure (preferred but not mandatory)
