GENERAL SUMMARY

This position will provide Supplier Quality support to the Military Assembly Plant for various programs. This support will include but not be limited to working with suppliers on APQP, Sample Submission review and approval, supplier development, respond to supplier quality issues and corrective actions, perform supplier pre-award surveys for potential new suppliers and surveillance audits of current suppliers.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Senior Technical Expert for the area in which the individual is responsible for, paint, welding, or other areas as determined by the department manager
  • Provide guidance and support for suppliers during the APQP and Sample Submission process for purchased parts
  • Develop sample submission requirements, review sample submissions, provide feedback on submission compliance, and approve sample submissions for suppliers of purchased parts
  • Respond to supplier quality issues identified on the assembly line or from customer feedback
  • Work with suppliers in responding to quality issues (containment, sorting, certify stock, etc.)
  • Issue Corrective Action Reports (CAR) to suppliers and review containment, root-cause, corrective actions to obtain closure of issue
  • Perform supplier pre-award surveys for potential new suppliers and surveillance audits of current suppliers
  • Review part prints and computer models to assess completeness and accuracy
  • Attend meetings, generate, and communicate reports concerning areas of concern and risk
  • Issue MRB and/or MUP when required to support assembly
  • Review salvage tables containing non-conforming parts and assess responsibility for defect(s)
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support supplier quality initiatives
  • Evaluate, utilize, and maintain the Daily Schedule Control (DSC), and Weekly Operating Report (DWOR)

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Quality or other technical field preferred
  • ASQ certification a plus
  • Minimum 10 years of quality experience
  • 5 years specific to the technical area to which the individual is assigned
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in APQP, PPAP, Problem Solving, TS-16949I, ISO-9000, or IATF
  • A strong background in computer programs such as SAP, SharePoint, Access, Excel, etc. required

PHYSICAL EFFORT

  • Sight: must be able to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner, including regular use of adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Hearing: must be able to regularly hear well enough to communicate

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Physical Location: This position operates between an office and manufacturing plant environment and is often assigned to a specific shift or hours. The Employee must be able to perform job functions in an environment with varying difficult work conditions such as extreme cold, heat, inclement weather, at heights, and/or while exposed to constant/intermittent loud noises
  • Teamwork: This position will work with others to ensure efficiency in the workplace
  • Listening Skills: This position will need to understand how to use machinery properly and safely to prevent accidents and ensure all tasks are completed accurately
  • Ability to follow instructions: Managers assign tasks and responsibilities, which vary; this position should be able to follow instructions competently
  • Methodical approach: Production lines follow a set process, so this position needs a methodical approach to ensure all tasks are completed in the correct order for a smooth-running production line
  • Concentration: This position may perform the same or similar tasks repeatedly, so a strong level of concentration when carrying out these tasks is important for quality control purposes. This role is often fast paced, so being able to maintain focus at all times is important
