Overview
Join our dynamic finance team as a Staff Accountant and play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the organization’s financial health. As a key contributor, you will be instrumental in preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and assisting with audits to uphold the highest standards of financial integrity.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of accounts receivable and accounts payable records.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Support internal controls related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance and participate in internal and external audits.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions using accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects involving governmental accounting, non-profit accounting (including LIHTC), or specialized areas like securities law or estate law when applicable.
- Provide mentorship to junior team members and foster a culture of continuous learning within the accounting department.
Skills
- Strong understanding of GAAP, technical accounting concepts, and double-entry bookkeeping principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Quicken, or similar tools.
- Experience with SOX compliance procedures and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting practices.
- Ability to interpret complex financial reports and perform detailed financial analysis including cash flow analysis and bank reconciliations.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, account analysis, budgeting, and financial report writing.
- Familiarity with tax experience related to Wills, trusts & estate law is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for account reconciliation and journal entries.

Pay: $62,448.20 - $75,206.44 per year
