Staff Accountant

Job Summary:

Staff Accountant works under the supervision of the Controller. Maintains and controls financial reports, records and general ledger accounts, as well as business transactions of the organization. Responsible for billing activities, such as accounts payable and accounts receivable.

This is an in-person position only.

Work schedule is Monday through Friday and Saturdays as scheduled.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
  • Perform the processing of branch allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation, bonds, and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary.
  • Assist the Department with the day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the Accounting Department including review and analysis.
  • Assist with the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
  • Assist with external and internal examiners as well as the annual report process and regulatory filings.
  • Perform primary or back-up department functions, including daily money position analysis, vendor management review, accounts payable, and reconciliations.
  • May be called upon from time to time to participate with community relations and community projects.
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Be able to demonstrate attention to details and good recordkeeping.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and keep current with developments and trends. Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • At least 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Previous banking experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other Federal, State, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other Federal, State and Local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use computers, read, write, type, use office equipment, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with customers and co-workers. Pay: $51,460 - $64,325 annual dependent on qualifications and experience.
