Staff Accountant
General Statement of Duties
The Staff Accountant position is responsible for supporting the accounting operations of the organization by creating journal entries, maintaining accounting records, and following a set of controls designed to mitigate risk and ensure reported results comply with GAAP. The Staff Accountant will adhere to deadlines and complete tasks with a high degree of detail and accuracy.
Essential Job Functions
- Reconciliation of monthly bank statements
- Maintain fixed assets and book journal entries
- Maintain prepaid expenses and book journal entries
- Complete assigned balance sheet account reconciliations
- Maintain and reconcile other supporting schedules and ledgers as assigned
- Assist with month end reporting
- Assist with the preparation of 990 tax return, Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, and financial statement audits
- Other accounting functions as assigned
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or another related field
- Previous experience as a Staff Accountant, Accounting Clerk, Accounting Assistant, or another related role
- Demonstrated advanced competence with Microsoft Excel and an enterprise level general ledger application
- Attention to detail with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects
- Previous experience as Staff Accountant in Senior Living preferred.
