Staff Accountant

Job Summary

Indy Rooftops is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive accounting professional to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment and wants to play a key role in helping leadership understand the financial health of the business.

The primary focus of this position will be job costing, profit & loss tracking, financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable management, payroll processing, and commission calculations. The ideal candidate will help create accurate, timely financial visibility across both residential and commercial divisions while supporting day-to-day accounting operations.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to work closely with ownership, operations, sales, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage job costing and track profitability across residential and commercial projects
• Prepare and maintain monthly Profit & Loss reports and other financial reporting for leadership review
• Monitor project budgets, material costs, labor costs, and overhead allocation
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including vendor payments, customer invoicing, collections, and reconciliations
• Process payroll and assist with payroll-related reporting using ADP
• Calculate and track commissions and bonus structures for sales and production staff
• Assist with bookkeeping functions including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
• Support month-end and year-end close procedures
• Work closely with ownership and management to improve financial tracking, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency
• Maintain organized financial records and assist with audit or tax preparation as needed
• Assist with occasional administrative and office support tasks as part of a collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management within construction, roofing, or a project-based industry preferred
• Strong understanding of job costing and construction financial reporting
• Experience with QuickBooks and ADP preferred
• Understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Comfortable communicating with vendors, customers, office staff, and leadership teams
• Self-motivated with the ability to identify problems and help implement solutions
• Experience with commission structures, WIP reporting, or construction accounting is a plus

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
