SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting accounting aspects of the production process, including month-end reports, reconciliation of general ledger to statements and reports for farming entities. The best candidates for this position will enjoy tackling new challenges and possess exceptional organizational skills with an eye for detail.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following as well as other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned.
- Preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements
- Reconcile and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliation workbook
- Preparation of journal entries and intercompany invoicing
- Provide support to accounting clerks with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Assist in preparation of monthly and year end growing cost reports for various growing regions
- Maintain Grower Payment Schedules by area, including assisting with the preparation of grower contracts
- Prepare and reconcile final grower settlements by area
- Invoice outside growers and investors on a monthly basis
- Prepare and reconcile Master Lease Schedule for all ranches and equipment
- Responsible for completion and maintenance of general ledgers and financial reports.
- Monitor and analyze account data, working closely with the production and accounting teams to produce complete and accurate financial reports and statements.
- Assist with preparing budgets and forecasts for growing operations
- Assist with the month-end close process and financial reporting.
- Support Assistant Controller during the annual audit process, gathering audit selections, preparing schedules and providing variances analysis.
- Maintain cash books for tax purposes including posting cash transactions and reconciling accounts necessary for tax returns.
- Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately.
- Contribute to developing processes to streamline timely reporting of financial information
- Regularly attend departmental meetings including growing costs meetings
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent
- 2+ years of related experience preferred
- This position is on-site at our Salinas office and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
- Demonstrate a high level of proficiency with computer hardware and software necessary to perform duties including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Outlook and Word) required.
- Full working knowledge of all elements regarding a chart of accounts, cost accounting and profit centers. Must possess an understanding of debits, credits, assets, liabilities, and profit/loss accounts.
- Working experience with an Accounting ERP system (preferably Microsoft D365) is highly desirable.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of the organization and supervisor to resolve problems and issues in a timely manner.

- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
