JOB TITLE: Staff Accountant
SUMMARY: ACS is a value-added distributor located in Westmont, IL. We are searching for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This position is responsible for supporting all our day-to-day accounting activities, as well as monthly and yearly accounting cycles. In addition, the Staff Accountant maintains a high level of communication with internal ACS departments and external vendors, creditors, and business partners. Pay range is commensurate with experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares general ledger journal entries, fixed asset tracking, monthly balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliation.
- Prepares and analyzes financial and operational reports; prepares reports required by regulatory agencies, banks, investors, and other external parties.
- Manages monthly accounting close cycle; prepares month-end financial statement.
- Reviews, evaluates, and implements accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinates annual independent audit and preparation of annual tax documents.
- Generates and files monthly financial reports.
- Develops, analyzes, and prepares periodic financial statements for timely distribution to management.
- Assists with accounts payable functions including but not limited to verifying invoices, expense reports, check requests, and purchase requisitions; entering data into accounts payable system; and processing weekly check runs.
- Assists with accounts receivable functions including but not limited to mitigating credit risk, applying payments to appropriate accounts, monthly invoicing, reconciling customer accounts, and handling customer inquiries.
- Uses EDI to transmit data to clients.
- Reconciles petty cash fund.
- Assists with budget preparation.
- Prepares and analyzes monthly journals.
- Performs daily banking procedures.
- Maintains fixed asset and related depreciation schedules.
- Prepares monthly tax returns.
- Analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts.
- Coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
- Reviews and analyzes the organization's accounting operation; recommends improvements.
- Assists with related special projects as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in accounting or finance or equivalent.
- Two to four years related experience or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate subordinates.
- Experience using EDI preferred
- Proficiency with NetSuite a plus.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office programs.

- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
