Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant (Entry-Level) to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will support the organization’s financial operations by assisting with accounting processes, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Duties
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements.
- Perform account reconciliations, including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and financial report writing.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis to monitor liquidity and financial stability.
- Assist with internal audits, SOX compliance procedures, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for data entry and reporting.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis projects to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with team members on technical accounting issues such as securities law, nonprofit accounting (including LIHTC), governmental accounting, or private equity considerations as needed.
- Support mentoring initiatives by sharing knowledge of double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and financial concepts with new team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial concepts.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or similar platforms; experience with Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Knowledge of financial report interpretation, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliation techniques.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed account analysis and financial management tasks.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in bookkeeping tasks such as journal entries and ledger management.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new systems like PeopleSoft or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams and supporting mentoring initiatives.
- Prior experience or coursework related to public accounting, nonprofit accounting (including LIHTC), governmental accounting or technical accounting is a plus but not required. Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
