Staff Accountant/Tax Preparer

Are you an experienced accountant with a strong tax background and some accounting services experience? Our company is seeking a Tax Preparer to join our team immediately and support our clients during tax season.

About the Role:
You will serve as the main tax preparer during tax season, working closely with our team to maintain accurate client records. In addition, you will prepare and examine financial records, perform monthly accounting services, and ensure all tax filings are accurate and timely.

We are a fast-paced accounting firm serving clients across various industries, and we are looking for someone who thrives in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare federal and state tax returns: 1040, 1120S, 1120, 1065
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly
• Prepare and send accurate financial statements to clients
• Review financials with clients and provide insights
• Analyze profit & loss statements and balance sheets
• Make payroll and tax entries accurately
• File sales tax returns
• Clean up and catch up books for multiple months or years
• Work with platforms such as PayPal, Stripe, and Amazon (a plus)
• Communicate directly with clients to gather necessary information and finalize filings

Qualifications:

• Public accounting or tax experience is a must (audit or private accounting backgrounds need not apply)
• Minimum 2+ years of accounting and tax experience
• Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
• Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to work diligently from a virtual home office space

Schedule:

• Full-time: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 10 AM – 6 PM EST
• Tax season hours: Monday–Friday plus Saturday or Sunday, up to 55 hours/week from January 15 – April 15

Preferred Candidates:

• Enrolled Agents (EA) or CPAs with 2–3 years of bookkeeping and tax experience
• Looking for a full-time, long-term opportunity

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour

Experience:

• Tax Preparation: 3 years (Required)
• Intuit ProSeries: 3 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Enrolled Agent (Required)
