STAFF ATTORNEY (Family Law Facilitator Office) Examination No. 26-010San Diego Superior Court is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Staff Attorney at the Family Law Facilitator (FLF) Office.FLF Staff Attorneys may be assigned to work at any of the following San Diego Superior Court locations: downtown San Diego at the Central Courthouse; North County (Vista); East County (El Cajon); and South County (Chula Vista).There is currently one (1) upcoming vacancy approved to be filled. Selected candidate may be assigned to either the downtown San Diego, El Cajon, or Chula Vista courthouse (subject to change). Bilingual in Spanish and previous experience working in a family law self-help center are highly desirable.JOB SUMMARY Under direction of the Family Law Facilitator, an FLF Staff Attorney provides services in the Family Law Facilitator program offices as mandated by Family Code Sections 10000 through 10012. Typical duties include providing legal information to self-represented litigants in the area of family law on issues including but not limited to dissolution of marriage, legal separation, nullity, paternity, child and spousal support, health insurance, child custody and visitation, and domestic violence; assisting in the completion of court forms; providing child support calculations based upon statutory guidelines; conducting workshops; providing referrals to the Department of Child Support Services, Family Court Services, and other community agencies and resources that provide assistance to parents and children; and any other assignments in accordance with Family Code Section 10005. The IDEAL CANDIDATE should have the following: KNOWLEDGE OF: Family law principles; court processes and procedures; Judicial Council and local family law forms; and family law related resources, including community-based organizations and referral services. ABILITY TO: Maintain confidentiality; review court files to determine status; review documents, pleadings and records for legal sufficiency and correctness; follow written and verbal instructions; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; exercise good judgment, tact and courtesy; establish and maintain good working relationships with Superior Court judicial officers and staff, the Department of Child Support Services, members of the Bar, and other government and community agencies; operate personal computers, including forms software programs; perform child support calculations on both DissoMaster and the Public Guideline Calculator; triage family law issues; handle multiple customers and family law issues concurrently; and work expeditiously in a fast-paced setting. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSApplicants must be currently licensed to practice law in California;ANDHave at least two (2) years of full-time, post-bar litigation experience in the practice of family law in California, to include processing dissolution, paternity, child support, child custody/visitation, and domestic violence
