Job Summary

The Black Car Fund is a not-for-profit organization that provides workers’ compensation insurance, safety education, and related benefits to For-Hire drivers who operate in the state of New York and are affiliated with companies that are The Fund’s Member Bases.

Our office headquarters is located at The Jacx (thejacx.com) in Long Island City, Queens.

Annual Salary: $62k - $70k

Signing Bonus: $2,500.

We have an immediate need to fill a Staff Auditor position. We are currently seeking an energetic, personable, articulate, quick study, highly responsible, customer service-friendly individual to join our team.

The successful candidate will primarily perform member base audits and new member applicant orientations and approvals. This individual may also be expected to perform common accounting duties and provide ongoing support to The Fund's Accounting Department. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the CFO and assist the Controller when needed.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

The Staff Auditor is responsible for assisting the CFO by performing Member Base audits and new Member Base applicant orientations and approvals.

Other duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Attend and assist at driver and member resource fairs.
  • Be available to answer Member Base questions and assist in the preparation of monthly reports.
  • Assist the Accounting department when Accounting staff members are absent.
  • Assist on special projects such as creating PowerPoint presentations and designing spreadsheets and reports.

Candidate Profile and Specific Requirements:

  • The successful candidate should have a bachelor's degree.
  • Prior experience in auditing, accounting, bookkeeping, or finance is a plus.

This position also requires:

  • Willingness to travel, primarily within the New York City metro area, visiting Member Bases
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to navigate databases
  • Proactive - takes initiative
  • Takes ownership, is responsible, committed to accuracy
  • Project management
  • Ability to escalate issues to management in a timely manner
  • Willingness to participate in training and attend conferences
