Clinical Care
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, including risk assessments (suicidality, aggression, self-harm).
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor side effects, and ensure medication adherence.
- Implement individualized care plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists.
- Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and emergency psychiatric care.
- Support patients in managing symptoms, daily living activities, and rehabilitation.
Therapeutic Interventions
- Facilitate therapeutic groups (e.g., psychoeducation, stress management, coping strategies etc).
- Deliver evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) –informed techniques, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and relapse prevention.
Patient Advocacy & Safety
- Ensure patient rights, dignity, privacy (whenever required) and confidentiality are maintained.
- Promote a recovery-oriented and stigma-free care environment.
- Implement safety protocols to prevent harm, including suicide prevention strategies.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely, transparent, and legally compliant patient records.
- Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance activities.
- Adhere to national and institutional mental health policies, protocols, and regulatory frameworks.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Actively participate in case conferences, family meetings, and multidisciplinary ward rounds.
Coordinate continuity of care during admissions, transfers, and discharges.
