- Blood collection
- Patient assessment and preparation:
- Taking patient medical history, including allergies and relevant medical conditions.
- Verifying patient identification and explaining the CT scan procedure in detail.
- Obtaining informed consent for the procedure.
- Checking for NPO (nothing by mouth) status if required for the scan.
- Assessing patient anxiety and providing appropriate support.
- Contrast media administration:
- Administering contrast media as directed by the radiologist, monitoring for potential allergic reactions.
- Explaining the sensation of contrast injection and managing any adverse reactions.
- Patient positioning and scan execution:
- Assisting the CT technologist in positioning the patient on the CT scan table to ensure optimal image quality.
- Communicating with the patient during the scan to maintain stillness and minimize movement artifacts.
- Monitoring patient vitals during the procedure.
- Post-procedure care:
- Monitoring patients for any post-contrast reactions.
- Providing instructions for post-scan care, including hydration and dietary guidelines.
- Communicating scan results to the radiologist and documenting relevant information in the patient's medical record.
