Staff Nurse (Bank)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Staff Nurse (Bank) to join our care home team on a flexible, as-needed basis. This role involves delivering high-quality nursing care to residents within a residential care setting, supporting their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. The ideal candidate will be experienced in elderly care, with strong clinical skills and a person-centred approach. This position is well suited to registered nurses seeking flexible working within a supportive care home environment.

Duties

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to residents, including monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and promoting overall wellbeing
• Administer prescribed medications safely and accurately in line with care home policies and regulatory standards
• Carry out individual care assessments and maintain accurate, up-to-date care records and documentation
• Work collaboratively with care assistants and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of resident care
• Support residents’ emotional, physical, and social needs, promoting dignity, respect, and independence
• Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control procedures, safeguarding policies, and health & safety standards
• Respond promptly to changes in residents’ conditions and escalate concerns to senior staff or external healthcare professionals when required
• Participate in handovers and contribute to continuity of care within the home
• Support end-of-life care with sensitivity and professionalism where required

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse qualification recognised by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) or equivalent regulatory body
• Previous experience in a care home or elderly care setting is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of clinical nursing practice, including anatomy, physiology, and medication administration
• Competent in safe medication management and documentation in line with care home policies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centred approach
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a care home environment
• Organised, adaptable, and able to respond effectively in a busy and changing environment
• Flexibility to work bank shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Additional Information

This is a bank nurse position, offering flexible shifts based on the needs of the care home. This role does not constitute a permanent contract and shifts will be offered as required.

Pay: £21.75 per hour
