Position- Staff Nurse/Senior Staff Nurse.
Requirement of Qualification and experience :
- Qualification: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing (Registered Nurse with State Nursing Council)
- Experience: 1–3 years of clinical experience preferred.
The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in accordance with hospital policies, medical directives, and best practices. The role includes patient assessment, monitoring, care planning, execution of medical orders, documentation, patient education, infection control, and support in all clinical procedures across various hospital units.
- Take the nursing history, summarize data, and state nursing diagnoses and patient care needs.
- Observe and record patients’ signs, symptoms, and behaviours, including physiological status, and report assessment changes to the concerned authority.
- Continuously monitor critical patients and coordinate with doctors in case of emergencies (using MEWS or other protocols).
- Maintain nursing and medical records related to patient daily routines and maintain all relevant registers.
- Follow hospital policies and deliver designated nursing interventions consistent with the medical plan of care.
- Educate patients and their families about illness, disease processes, treatment plans, pre- and post-operative instructions, ward orientation, and discharge guidelines.
- Maintain patient safety by taking preventive measures as established by the organization.
- Execute doctors’ or consultants’ orders, safely administer medications, and carry out skilled nursing care.
- Demonstrate proficiency in phlebotomy, IV cannulation, IV drug administration, wound dressing, and other clinical skills.
- Collect specimens as ordered, ensuring correct labeling and handling.
- Set up and ensure availability of trolleys, oxygen cylinders, and other medical equipment; prepare special procedure trays and dressing trolleys.
- Ensure that all instruments and packs are autoclaved before performing procedures.
- Provide immediate care, safety, and comfort to antenatal, postnatal, and critical care patients.
- Manage uncomplicated deliveries and monitor for complications such as eclampsia, diabetes, malpresentation, prolapsed cord, or ruptured uterus.
- Standardize the approach to managing severe pre-eclampsia and other high-risk maternal conditions.
- Provide guidelines for safe use of oxytocin in labor induction and manage fetal monitoring using centralized electronic systems.
- Perform patient admission, discharge, and transfer procedures, and assist with patients’ daily activities and care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all patient interactions, medical and nursing procedures, medication administration, surgical data, and other health records.
- Ensure accurate takeover/handover of patients between shifts.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of nursing care by observing subordinate nurses and collecting feedback from patients, relatives, and consultants.
- Maintain medico-legal documentation, labor room records, and other specialized unit records.
- arry out routine checks to ensure that all equipment is in working order.
- Ensure all items used for patients, including medications, consumables, and surgical supplies, are duly recorded, charged, and inventoried daily.
- Ensure optimum and rational utilization of all hospital facilities, supplies, and equipment.
- Responsible for equipment, diagnostic procedures, investigations, and other services to be charged in the HIMS system and billing sheets.
- Strictly follow infection control protocols and International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG).
- Report any adverse reactions to medications or treatments according to hospital policies.
- Ensure proper segregation, storage, transport, disposal, and display of hospital waste according to HIC guidelines.
- Participate actively in quality improvement programs in nursing practice.
- Supervise the cleanliness and hygiene of assigned areas, wards, and patient care units.
- Carry out any other duties and responsibilities assigned by superiors from time to time.
- Ensure timely attention to patients’ personal hygiene needs.
