Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Staff Nurse specializing in Labour Room care to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Monitor and assess maternal vital signs, fetal heart rates, and overall well-being throughout labor and delivery processes.
- Assist obstetricians and midwives with procedures such as suturing, catheterization, and sterile techniques to ensure safe delivery practices.
- Administer medications including analgesics, antibiotics, and IV infusions in accordance with prescribed protocols.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide patient education on labor progression, pain management options, postpartum care, and newborn care instructions.
- Support emergency interventions during obstetric complications by applying advanced skills in airway management, ventilator use, or acute pain management as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including neonatologists, anesthesiologists, and pediatricians to deliver holistic maternal and neonatal care.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a registered nurse in labour and delivery units within hospital settings or maternity wards.
- Critical care experience preferred, especially in Level I or Level II trauma centers or neonatal intensive care units (NICU).
- Familiarity with obstetric procedures such as suturing, catheterization, IV insertion, and aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of fetal monitoring equipment and interpretation of cardiotocography (CTG) readings.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care activities.
- Background in managing high-risk pregnancies or complex deliveries is highly desirable.
