Amber Behavioral Health LLC is a 32-bed residential mental health treatment center located in Port St Lucie, FL scheduled to open December 2025.
We are currently seeking Part-Time and PRN Nurses for ALL shifts to join our Nursing team. Shifts are 12 hours: 7am to 7pm OR 7pm to 7am.
The Nurse is responsible for all nursing related services for each patient and for linking patients to the providers and medical resources. They play an active role to inform the clinical team about medical issues and are available for emergency medical situations. The Nurse provides all services under the supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON) and Medical Director.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduated from an accredited nursing program or college or university with a degree in Nursing.
- LPN or RN, licensed in good standing in the state of Florida.
- MUST be able to pass an AHCA Level II Background screening and drug screening.
EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years' experience in a residential or inpatient mental health treatment program, preferred.
- Experience with mental health disorders, PTSD care, Trauma care, Veterans, and First Responders, preferred.
- Proficient at Microsoft Office365 Suite, preferred.
- Knowledge of KIPU EMR is a plus but will train.
- CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Weekend availability, rotating.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
- Licensed to practice nursing in Florida, maintains current license per state requirements.
- Maintains current CPR/First Aid.
- Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION:
- Completes the required documentation within 24 hours of the patient’s admission to the program, including admissions note, nursing screenings, consents, etc.
- Responsible for admission process, completing assessment, vitals, breathalyzer, skin checks, urinalysis, consents, etc. and documenting as indicated in the EMR.
- Ensure all assessments, nursing screens, nursing shift notes (narratives), vitals, med pass, informed consents, rapid drug screens results, and lab confirmations are documented in the EMR.
- Communicate with multi-disciplinary team of resident issues that require monitoring or potential side effects.
- Complete nursing shift report and follow up on previous nursing shift report directives and medical concerns communicated by clinical or support staff.
- Ability to schedule routine laboratory examinations or those ordered by the provider, and follow-up on labs and escalate any urgent issues to the medical provider’s attention.
- Provides patient education in both individual and group settings, including education on new medications, medication changes, health problems and medical care, under the supervision and guidance of the DON and providers.
- Administers medications and observes for compliance and/or side effects, documents accordingly.
- Assist with emergency situations and make immediate referrals.
- Provide documentation which reflects services for each patient in accordance with licensure standards.
- Audit Medication logs.
- Ability to meet with patients requesting to see the medical provider to determine the urgency of their medical needs and expedite treatment as required.
- Obtains verbal orders from the healthcare provider, document them in the patient record and carry them out accurately and professionally.
- Provide routine nursing care under the supervision of the DON.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and is compliant with state and federal HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
- Maintains Standards of Ethical Conduct.
- Participates in regular department meetings and staff meetings.
- Ability to encourage efficient utilization of supplies and equipment to prevent waste.
- Maintains effective communication between outside medical services and the facility.
- Interacts with patients with compassion and respect.
- Maintains up-to-date training in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Infection Control, Fire Safety, and other areas mandated by organizational policies.
- Attends in-service education programs as assigned and to learn new forms, procedures, developmental skills, etc.
- Ability to have good work habits: get things done in a timely, efficient manner with no excessive absences; is on time for scheduled shifts and prepared to begin work.
- Functions well as a team member and contributes positively to the morale of staff.
- Performs additional duties, as deemed necessary by supervisor.
