Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Provide direct nursing care to sick and premature infants, including monitoring vital signs, administering IV medications, nutrition, and respiratory support.
- Assessment & Monitoring: Continuously assess the infant's condition, including respiratory status, neurological development, and response to treatments, documenting observations in patient records.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Family Support & Education: Offer emotional support to parents and families, educating them on newborn care, feeding techniques, and helping them participate in their baby's care through methods like kangaroo care.
- Medical Record Maintenance: Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in patient and department records.
- Emergency Response: Respond quickly to emergencies and provide immediate interventions as needed.
- Environment Management: Ensure a sterile and safe NICU environment to prevent infections and complications.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with advancements in neonatal care and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
