DUTY & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operation Theatre nurses provide high standards of skilled care and support during the 'perioperative' Period. Perioperative care can be divided into following phases:
Preoperative phase
- Communicates with the patient about the Operation.
- Check the patient before taking for Surgery.
- Check for the Completeness of the Documents required.
- Receive complete Charge from the shifting nurse at Pre-Op Area.
- Arranging instruments for planned surgeries and in emergencies.
Anesthetic phase
During this phase, the theatre nurse will:
- Assist the patient prior to surgery and provide holistic care
Recovery phase
- Receive, assess and deliver care on the patient's arrival into the Post-Operative unit.
- Monitor the patient's health and support them, providing appropriate care and treatment until the patient has recovered from the effects of the anesthesia and/or surgery and is stable
- Assess the patient in order to ensure they can be discharged back to a surgical ward area
- Evaluate the care given during the perioperative phases (anesthetics, surgery and recovery).
In addition to the work done during these phases, theatre nurses may be involved in:
- Coordinating with wards where patients are awaiting for their operation/procedure
- Completing Documentation.
- Entering the Materials in Material sheet as well as in System.
- Receiving Drugs & Consumables from OT Store on Case Basis.
- Coordinate with the hospital's Sterile Services Department to ensure that equipment has been returned once re-sterilized and re-packaged.
- Informing about invoice to sub store.
- Sending histopathology specimen to laboratory.
- Proper Disposal of Waste as per Protocol.
- Ensuring proper instrument cleaning and packing.
- Sending instruments to CSSD.

Pay: ₹24,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
