Role Overview
The OT Assistant will support the Operation Theatre team by maintaining a sterile OT environment, preparing surgical instruments, assisting doctors and nurses during procedures, and ensuring compliance with NABH, infection control, and patient safety protocols.
Key ResponsibilitiesPre-Operative Duties
- Prepare the OT before each surgery, ensuring all instruments, equipment, consumables, and implants are properly sterilized and arranged.
- Set up OT tables, surgical trays, and instruments as per surgeon and procedure requirements.
- Assist in patient shifting, positioning, and draping under supervision.
- Verify patient identity, consent forms, and case sheets as per safety checklist protocols.
Intra-Operative Duties
- Assist surgeons and OT nurses by passing instruments and materials during procedures.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and OT discipline throughout surgeries.
- Operate and assist with OT equipment such as microscopes, phaco machines, cautery, etc., as instructed.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of instruments and consumables during surgery.
Post-Operative Duties
- Assist in safe shifting of patients to the recovery area.
- Segregate and dispose biomedical waste as per hospital and statutory norms.
- Clean, disinfect, sterilize, and restock OT instruments and trays.
- Maintain OT registers, instrument counts, and surgery logs accurately.
Skills & Competencies
- Sound knowledge of OT protocols, sterilization, and infection control practices.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure during surgeries.
- Attention to detail and strong sense of responsibility.
- Basic understanding of ophthalmic OT equipment.
- Good coordination, teamwork, and communication skills.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or certification in OT Technology / OT Assistant course preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in an Operation Theatre, preferably in an eye hospital.
- Freshers with relevant OT training may be considered.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
