Staff Nurse - SICU

Job Title: Staff Nurse – SICU

Job Summary:

The Staff Nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) provides specialized nursing care to critically ill surgical patients. This role involves monitoring and managing post-operative patients, administering medications and therapies, assisting in procedures, and ensuring patient safety while adhering to ICU protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, monitor, and document vital signs, clinical status, and post-operative progress of SICU patients.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and prescribed therapies accurately and safely.
  • Assist surgeons and physicians during critical procedures and emergency interventions.
  • Operate and monitor ICU equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, and hemodynamic monitors.
  • Provide post-operative care, including wound care, pain management, and prevention of complications.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, including cardiac arrest, shock, and post-surgical complications.
  • Maintain strict infection control, sterile techniques, and ICU hygiene protocols.
  • Educate patients’ families regarding care plans, medications, and follow-up procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, shift reports, and documentation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, care planning, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license.
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing preferred).
  • Experience in ICU or SICU nursing preferred.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is highly recommended.
  • Knowledge of surgical care protocols, critical care procedures, and emergency interventions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to assist in patient care, handle ICU equipment, and work long shifts in a high-stress environment.

  • Strong critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills.
  • Teamwork, communication, and patient counseling abilities.
  • Proficiency in post-operative care, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fresher

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
