a) To assess and triage patients arriving in the casualty/emergency department.
b) To provide immediate life-saving interventions (e.g., CPR, airway management, IV therapy).
c) To manage complications of cancer treatment, such as sepsis, bleeding, or severe pain.
d) To administer medications, including opioids and other pain management drugs.
e) To monitor and manage side effects from chemotherapy, radiation, and other treatments.
f) To assist in palliative and end-of-life care situations
g) To work closely with oncologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
h) To assist in stabilising patients for further treatment or ICU admission.
i) To communicate with family members regarding the patient's condition
j) To operate and maintain emergency medical equipment (ventilators, defibrillators).
k) To educate on emergency signs, home care, and follow-up procedures.
l) To guide families in dealing with cancer-related emergencies
