Total Care Rx is experiencing very exciting mid year growth. We are currently seeking a Staff Pharmacist to join our Specialty pharmacy. We are seeking experienced and motivated pharmacists for this role. This is an 100% in office position, working 5 days a week with 1-2 Saturdays a month.
Job Responsibilities:
· Performs the duties of a pharmacist working in a specialty pharmacy in compliance with policy and state/federal regulations.
· Accurately review and interpret prescriptions received by phone-in from customers or from Doctor’s offices.
· Maintain distributive, and clinical competency in compliance to policy and sufficient to meet pharmacy standards for patient safety and effective therapy, including clinical monitoring, assessments, adherence and compliance; compounds, dispenses and performs clinical activities to these standards.
· Ensure that no drug duplication or drug to drug interaction exists and ensure that patient is not allergic to any medication prescribed.
· Works in cooperation with all other pharmacy departments.
· Ability to obtain prior authorizations and navigate third party prior authorization processes successfully.
· Ability to complete day end assignments – prints daily prescription log, regulatory and other company reporting as well as performing computer backup procedures daily if applicable
· Efficiently performs other professional pharmacist duties including the safe procurement, preparation, labeling, distribution and control of all drugs.
· Notify appropriate medical/nursing staff whenever appropriate drug therapy is questionable.
· Interpret, clarify and transcribe all medication orders accurately and timely.
· Document medication order clarifications.
· Review patient profile to ensure appropriate drug selection and dosage (no drug duplication, interactions or allergies) and route of administration with accurate and complete information.
· Document all relevant interactions with patient and healthcare provider.
· Document adverse drug reaction appropriately.
Job Requirements
· Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
· Currently licensed as a registered pharmacist in the state in which the facility is and any other states as may be required by the pharmacy.
· At least one year minimum of Specialty Pharmacy experience.
· Ability to review drug to drug interactions and manage patient medication regimen accordingly.
· Ability to utilize equipment including but not limited to: Telephone, Computer, Designated software(s), Basic office Software (MS word, Excel), Printers, Calculators, Facsimile Machines and other Pharmacy Equipment.
· Ability to supervise pharmacy support personnel, which includes activities performed, work allocation between staff, and work performance (quality and quantity of work).
· Provide direct supervision to pharmacy interns and pharmacy technicians working with the pharmacist. Direct supervision means that the pharmacist has reviewed the prescription or drug order prior to it being dispensed, has verified the final product, and is immediately available on the premises to direct the work of interns and technicians and respond to questions and problems.
· Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
· Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.

· Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures; developing and implementing new strategies and procedures (performance improvement) including best practices.
· Demonstrate working knowledge of pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures.
· Dispense controlled substances and maintain accurate inventory records as required by appropriate regulatory authorities.
· Demonstrate ability to function as a team member in performance improvement.
· Maintains competence required for current job position and demonstrates knowledge in the necessary Reference Categories.
· Provide accurate, adequate and timely drug information/education and consultation to patients and their families as required by regulatory authorities.
· Able to service patients after hours when assigned to the on call rotation.
· Demonstrate ability to set priorities, work independently and cooperatively with others within and outside the department.
· Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
· Participate in company QI activities as requested.
· Anticipates and responds to the needs of both internal and external clients.
· Presents information (verbal and/or written) in a clear and concise manner.
