Staff Psychiatrist

Job Summary
Essex County Hospital Center is a Joint Commission–accredited, 180-bed intermediate psychiatric hospital for adults. Located at 204 Grove Avenue in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, it provides general medical and psychiatric services and is licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health.

ECHC is seeking an experienced and dedicated Staff Psychiatrist. The staff psychiatrist shall provide direct psychiatric services to adult inpatients. ECHC does not maintain an emergency department for psychiatric screening and all patients are referred to ECHC through short term care facilities and screening centers. The staff psychiatrist will function collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and maintain effective communication with staff and administration.

The ideal candidate is available to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Optional on-call opportunities are available. Compensation will be discussed during the interview process.

Duties

• Provide direct psychiatric services to adult inpatients at Essex County Hospital Center.
• Deliver a full range of psychiatric services, including psychiatric evaluation, psychopharmacologic management, individual psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and treatment planning.
• Document all psychiatric services in the patient’s medical record.
• Provide services to a designated patient population as determined by the Medical Director.
• Carry an assigned caseload of either 28 or 32 patients per psychiatrist, depending on unit assignment.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and maintain effective communication with staff and administration.
• Provide on-site psychiatric services Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
• Participate in optional on-call coverage for additional compensation ($100.00 per hour).

Requirements

• Current unrestricted professional medical license to practice in the State of New Jersey.
• Board certification or board eligibility in the applicable psychiatric specialty.
• Ability to provide psychiatric physician services on-site at Essex County Hospital Center in Cedar Grove, New Jersey.
• Ability to manage an assigned caseload of 28 or 32 patients, depending on unit assignment.
