Job Summary
The Staff Supply Chain Specialist will be responsible for the acquisition of materials, equipment, and services focusing on contract negotiations and material cost reductions. They will manage the supplier/contractor qualification and selection process by interfacing directly with internal customer(s). The Staff Supply Chain Specialist will also be accountable for preparing and issuing Request for Proposals (RFPs) and other sourcing events, contracts/purchase orders management and responsible for the contract utilization recommendations to customers.
The Staff Supply Chain Specialist will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remotely, as business needs allow.
Responsibilities

Assesses customer needs, provides technical procurement expertise to customers in the acquisition process, receipt of goods and any other related issues

Prepare and manage Request for Proposals/Quotations; conduct bid analysis, facilitate technical and commercial clarifications and make award recommendations

Lead negotiations with Supplier/Contractors including developing and executing cost reduction and cost avoidance strategies and initiatives

Responsible for sourcing major materials for Operations capital maintenance, value added, O&M and E&P projects

Develop and assist with contract start-up functions involving appropriate department managers and provide further recommendations

Participate and lead product standardization processes

Responsible for assessing emerging opportunities within the supply community

Evaluate contractual relationships, including identifying savings realized and new potential opportunities

Review and provide recommendations on sole source justification

Monitor, assess and adjust sourcing strategies based on supplier and market intelligence

Ensure current and continued compliance with all regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures both internally and externally to the Institution

Independently plans actions to ensure customer requirements are achieved

Develops clear and concise contractual documentation

Advises users on simple processes and resolves problems such as those relating to routine contracts or medium risk contracts
Qualifications/Requirements
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Minimum 15 years’ experience in supply chain overseeing contracts, negotiations, and material costs

Strong SAP experience
-
Strong Microsoft Suite skills
The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field with minimum 3 years’ experience in supply chain overseeing contracts, negotiations, and material costs
