Stages Theater Camp Counselor 2026

Purpose: STAGES Theater Camp seeks experienced and energetic staff members from diverse backgrounds to support in-person summer camps. Applicants should have introductory experience working with youth in camps, classrooms, babysitting, theater schools, or after-school settings.

Schedule: June 22nd - July 2nd, Monday - Friday, 7am - 2pm, 1st week & M-Th 2nd week; 7am - 8pm last day
Contract Status: Seasonal
Calendar: Seasonal - Summer 2026
Rate: $20.00 per hour

Note:

  • Open until filled with earlist review May 15, 2026.
  • Camp Counselors will work with children ranging in age from grades 1st through 8th.
  • Candidates must be 18 years or older and a high school graduate (or equivalent) at the time of hire.

CAMP COUNSELORS:
Camp Counselors supervise a group of students as they spend their day experiencing activities in different content areas. The primary role is to develop positive relationships with campers, becoming the camper's reliable and consistent person through their camp experience.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises campers in a variety of activities both inside and outside of the assigned activity space.
  • Exercises independent judgment to resolve issues and respond to the needs of campers or staff.
  • Exercises independent judgment in the management of groups of students or camp operations in a manner consistent with camp and district goals.
  • Work effectively with and respond to people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Facilitates campers' development of positive interpersonal relationships with peers and camp staff, promoting the safety of campers by helping them build self-confidence.
  • Supports students in behavior management and social skills; responds to discipline problems; acts as a role model.
  • Maintains high standards and expectations for students in a manner that encourages independence and personal growth.
  • Performs minor medical and health procedures as requested in a manner that meets state and district guidelines.
  • Respect confidential information and the privacy of campers, staff, and parents.
  • Provides other related services as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Six months of experience working with groups of students, supporting them with behavior intervention strategies and creatively problem-solving difficult situations.
  • Experience in theater performance (acting, musical theater, choreography, directing, etc) and/or creative drama (devising, creative play, imaginative world-building, theater games, etc).
  • Ability to anticipate solutions to problems and exercise good judgment in emergencies.
  • Works well in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Able to lift 30 pounds. (Reasonable accommodations will be made for persons with disabilities).
