Stainless Steel Tank Welder/Fabricator (Shop 2nd and 3rd Shift)

Full job description

  • Excellent Pay and Benefits (Pay is based on TIG Welding skill level and Tank Building experience)
  • 2nd Shift 4 days 10 hours (4:30pm - 3:00am)
  • 3rd Shift 5 Days 7 hours per day but paid for 8 hours 12:00am - 7:00am
  • Background checks and Drug test required
  • SUMMARY: Responsible for performing specialized welding and fabricating duties relating to the custom tank industry. Responsible for Layout and Fabricating metal assemblies and weldments. Using structural welding, forming and various other fabrication processes. Will include being proficient in multiple welding processes, such as: tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding, metal inert gas (MIG) welding, Plasma Cutting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Ability to weld the different types of metals used due to application and may consist of the following- stainless steel 308,316,317.2205, Duplex SS, Mild Steel in Pipe and Sheet form
  • Ability to use Grinders, Flex Shaft, Drills, and other hand tools
  • Grinding and comprehension of the different tank finishes
  • Ability to keep hand and arm steady while moving or holding arm and hand in one position
  • Read tank prints, interpret welding symbols, and complete welding tasks as per blueprint specifications
  • Proficient in reading and using tape measure and other measuring devices for quality
  • Welding positions will include, Vertical, Horizontal and Overhead
  • Working in confined spaces, climbing through manholes and nozzles
  • Must be able to Climb Ladders and use Man Lifts to weld certain parts of the tank
  • Skilled in operating equipment like fork trucks, bridge cranes etc.
  • Knowledge and use of safety harnesses and when to use them
  • Understanding of Safety and Confined space and the use of air monitors
  • Maintain records of time and report each time according to the job number
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to communicate to the Supervisor any information that would be a Safety or Quality issue and any other concerns that arises
  • Housekeeping and Organizational duties will also be required. Maintain a clean work environment. (Sweep the floor, pick up and straighten parts and tools, straightening up toolboxes and welders etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required.
  • Language Skills: Ability to analyze and interpret written instruction. Ability to present and respond to common inquires.

· Mathematical Skills: Ability to provide basic math skills are those that involve making calculations of amounts, sizes, or other measurements. These skills consist of core concepts like addition and subtraction, along with slightly more advanced concepts that build on top of those.

· Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to define problems, analyze, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to work on a personal computer, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, and good hand-eye coordination.

of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work and environment are very repetitive. This position requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time.
