Role Purpose
The State Sales Head is responsible for driving sales growth, distribution expansion, and market share across the assigned state. The role involves leading the sales team, managing channel partners, and executing company sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
Key Responsibilities1. Sales Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement state-level sales plans aligned with national objectives
- Set monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
- Identify growth opportunities in GT, MT, and e-commerce channels
- Monitor competitor activities and market trends
2. Revenue & Volume Achievement
- Deliver primary and secondary sales targets
- Ensure achievement of volume, value, and market share goals
- Drive product-wise and territory-wise performance
- Monitor sales MIS and take corrective actions
3. Distribution Management
- Expand and strengthen distributor network across the state
- Ensure optimum distributor ROI and health
- Improve numeric and weighted distribution
- Monitor stock levels and secondary movement
4. Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and motivate Area Sales Managers and Sales Officers
- Set KRAs/KPIs for the team and review performance regularly
- Conduct field visits and joint working with the sales team
- Drive capability building and training initiatives
5. Channel Management
- Manage General Trade (GT), Modern Trade (MT), and Institutional/B2B channels
- Ensure effective implementation of trade schemes and promotions
- Build strong relationships with key distributors and retail chains
- Resolve market escalations and trade issues
6. Market Execution
- Ensure excellent in-store visibility and merchandising
- Monitor implementation of brand and promotional activities
- Drive new product launches in the state
- Maintain hygiene of beat plans and coverage
7. Financial & Commercial Control
- Monitor sales expenses and ensure budget adherence
- Control claims, discounts, and trade spends
- Ensure timely collections and credit control
- Improve working capital efficiency
8. Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and present state sales reviews
- Ensure accurate and timely MIS reporting
- Maintain compliance with company policies
- Coordinate with supply chain, marketing, and finance teams
