Job Title: Steel Fixer (Rebar Worker)
Job Summary:
A Steel Fixer is responsible for cutting, bending, positioning, and securing steel reinforcement bars (rebar) and mesh used in concrete structures. They work closely with engineers, supervisors, and construction teams to ensure reinforcement is installed according to project drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret structural drawings, bar bending schedules, and specifications.
- Measure, cut, bend, and shape steel reinforcement bars.
- Position and secure reinforcement bars and mesh using wire, clips, and welding techniques where required.
- Assemble reinforcement cages for columns, beams, slabs, walls, and foundations.
- Ensure steel reinforcement is installed according to approved drawings and quality standards.
- Check spacing, alignment, cover, and placement before concrete pouring.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and rebar bending/cutting machines safely.
- Coordinate with formwork carpenters and concrete crews.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Follow site safety procedures and wear required PPE.
Required Skills
- Ability to read reinforcement drawings and bar schedules.
- Knowledge of steel fixing methods and construction practices.
- Skill in using rebar cutting and bending equipment.
- Good understanding of construction safety requirements.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in demanding site conditions.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent (preferred).
- Vocational training in construction trades is an advantage.
- Previous experience as a Steel Fixer in building, infrastructure, or civil projects.
- Familiarity with construction tools and equipment.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed on construction sites.
- Requires lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- May involve working at heights and in various weather conditions.
Pay: AED1,500.00 - AED2,600.00 per month
