Steel Structure Drafting Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Steel Structure Drafting Engineer with strong experience in structural steel fabrication and erection projects. The candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed shop drawings, GA drawings, and fabrication drawings for steel structures, ensuring accuracy, compliance with project specifications, and coordination with engineering, production, and site teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed shop drawings for structural steel fabrication and erection.
• Develop General Arrangement (GA) drawings, assembly drawings, and fabrication drawings.
• Prepare connection details including base plates, anchor bolts, stiffeners, and bolted/welded connections.
• Interpret IFC drawings and structural engineering drawings to produce fabrication drawings.
• Coordinate with design engineers, site engineers, and fabrication teams for drawing clarification and updates.
• Prepare material take-offs and cutting lists from structural drawings.
• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, international standards, and fabrication requirements.
• Review drawings before release for fabrication and site execution.
• Maintain proper revision control and drawing documentation.
• Assist the project team in resolving technical issues related to steel detailing and fabrication.
• Support site teams during steel erection works and coordinate drawing modifications when required.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and project timelines.

Required Skills:

• Strong knowledge of structural steel detailing and drafting
• Experience in steel fabrication drawings and erection drawings
• Understanding of steel connections, welding symbols, and structural detailing standards
• Ability to interpret structural design drawings and project specifications
• Strong coordination skills with engineering, production, and site teams

Software Requirements:

• AutoCAD – Mandatory
• Tekla Structures – Preferred
• Advance Steel / SDS2 – Added advantage
• MS Office

Qualifications:

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Structural Engineering
• Certification in steel detailing or drafting is an added advantage

Experience:

• 5–10 years of experience in steel structure drafting or detailing
• Experience in structural steel fabrication companies
• Exposure to PEB, steel structure erection, industrial steel projects, metal works, or heavy steel fabrication
