STEM/STEAM Event Facilitator

Role Overview

CreativeHUT is looking for engaging, reliable, and high-energy Event Facilitators to lead hands-on STEM/STEAM experiences at community events, festivals, and family activations. The majority of events will occur throughout the summer months (June-September) with sporadic event opportunities available before and after this high season.

This is a part-time role perfect for education majors, parents, paraprofessionals, camp counselors, or anyone who loves working with children in fast-paced, interactive environments.

Availability & Hours

Hours vary and are based on the event calendar. Weekend and evening availability is required. Travel throughout the Indiana region is expected with additional opportunities to support events in other parts of the country as needed.

  • Now – May: 5–10 hours per week (average)
  • June – September: 10–30 hours per week (average)

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Facilitation: Lead hands-on activities (e.g., Sphero, LEGO Robotics) using provided resources and curriculum.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Lead quick trainings to get event volunteers up to speed and confident interacting with event attendees and help alleviate any technical or resource issues throughout the event.
  • Logistics: Manage the full lifecycle of an event station, including setup, activity management, and breakdown.
  • Engagement: Adapt your teaching style to different age groups and crowd sizes, ensuring a fun and safe environment for all families.
  • Brand Ambassadorship: Represent CreativeHUT with professionalism, answering basic questions from partners and community members.
  • Reporting: Track attendance, share event photos/feedback, and maintain clear communication with the CreativeHUT team.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children, students, or youth programs (camps, tutoring, or enrichment).
  • Tech Savvy: Ability to troubleshoot generic tech issues is a must. Familiarity with STEM tools like Sphero, LEGO Robotics, or Ozobot is a major plus.
  • Soft Skills: Strong public speaking skills, the ability to think on your feet, and a "customer-first" attitude.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, and transport event materials and kits.
  • Logistics: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required, as is the ability to drive a large vehicle to transport event materials.
