Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Landscape Supply Store Manager to lead our retail team and drive store success. Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the yard/store (opening/closing, safety)
- Ensure the store is clean, organized, and accessible (including outdoor materials)
- Oversee the maintenance of equipment (loaders, forklifts, delivery trucks) and coordinate repairs
- Monitor employee performance and productivity
- Analyze workforce data and plan staffing needs
- Monitor stock levels of bulk and packaged materials
- Order products from vendors and negotiate pricing when possible
- Track seasonal demand
- Manage shrinkage, waste, and product quality
- Knowledge of POS SYSTEMS (lightspeed a plus)
- .Responsible for hiring, training, and scheduling employees
- Develop job descriptions and post openings
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new employees
- Promote a positive work environment
- Ensure safe operation of machinery and enforce safety protocols
- Delegate tasks and monitor productivity
- Handle employee performance reviews and disciplinary actions
- Communicate policies clearly to employees
- Assist customers (contractors and homeowners) with product selection
- Provide estimates and quotes for materials and delivery
- Resolve complaints or service issues
- Build relationships with repeat/contractor clients
- Schedule and route deliveries efficiently
- Coordinate drivers and ensure timely fulfillment
- Optimize load accuracy and compliance with weight limits
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA and DOT)
- Maintain safety standards for yard operations and equipment use
- Conduct safety training, weekly meetings, and incident reporting
- Promote seasonal products and specials
- Work with local contractors, landscapers, and builders
- Support advertising efforts (social media, signage, and work with our marketing provider workflow)
- Effective marketing initiatives to attract customers and increase store traffic and sales
Key Skill & Qualifications
- Proven management experience (2+ years) in retail store environments (landscaping, construction supply, or similar preferred) with supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong skills in negotiation, employee orientation, interviewing, recruiting, and training & development.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems, POS (Point of Sale) Lightspeed a plus, technology, cash handling, and retail math.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams confidently while maintaining organizational efficiency.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing budgets, pricing strategies, merchandising, stock replenishment, and marketing efforts.
- Experience with shift management, retail sales techniques, and excellent customer service.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
