Job Description
SYI is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Storekeeper to manage daily warehouse and inventory operations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in stock control, material handling, and ERP systems (preferably SAP), with exposure to manufacturing or furniture-related industries. This role requires accuracy, safety awareness, and effective coordination with multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials including metal components, paints, upholstery fabrics, veneers, carpentry materials, tools, and maintenance consumables.
- Prepare Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs) and accurately update inventory in SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Ensure received materials match purchase orders, delivery notes, and specifications.
- Organize, label, and store materials efficiently using FIFO/FEFO methods.
- Issue materials to Production, Maintenance, Upholstery, Metal, and Carpentry departments against approved Material Request Forms (MRFs).
- Maintain accurate stock records, bin locations, and documentation of all stock movements.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts; investigate and report discrepancies.
- Monitor minimum and safety stock levels and raise replenishment requests proactively.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals, paints, flammable, sharp, and heavy materials in compliance with safety standards.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Quality Control, Logistics, and internal departments to resolve shortages, quality issues, and urgent requirements.
- Prepare reports on stock levels, consumption trends, and slow-moving or obsolete items.
- Support audits, cost-control initiatives, and provide backup support during peak periods or leave coverage.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or technical certification in warehousing, logistics, or a related field (higher qualifications are an advantage).
- Inventory management or supply chain certifications (CIPS or similar) are a plus.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in storekeeping or warehouse operations, preferably in manufacturing, furniture, or metal/wood/paint-related industries.
- Hands-on experience handling metal parts, paints/chemicals, upholstery materials, veneers, carpentry supplies, and maintenance consumables.
- Strong understanding of GRN processes, stock issuance, and cycle counting.
- Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP inventory systems.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Forklift or material-handling equipment certification is an advantage.
