Strategic / Operational Buyer – Mechanical Components

We develop and manufacture highly complex mechatronic systems and electronic solutions for customers across industries such as industrial automation, energy, medical technology, aviation, and automotive.

To strengthen our Supply Chain Team in Chesapeake, Virginia, we are looking for a motivated Strategic / Operational Buyer (Mechanical Components) who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution to help shape and optimize our purchasing processes.

This Role's Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Supplier Selection & Qualification: Identify, evaluate, and qualify US suppliers and worldwide, including performing supplier audits.
• Price & Contract Negotiations: Independently conduct negotiations regarding pricing, conditions, and framework agreements in close cooperation with engineering, quality, and logistics.
• Operational Purchasing: Manage the complete purchasing process from demand planning and ordering to on-time delivery.
• Framework Agreements & Purchase Orders: Create, maintain, and monitor framework contracts to ensure reliable and efficient supply chains.
• Supplier Management: Build and maintain long-term, performance-oriented supplier relationships.
• Cost and Quality Optimization: Analyze procurement markets, identify savings potentials, and initiate improvement measures.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders in the US. and the global Purchasing Teams in Germany to align strategies and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Several years of professional experience in strategic and/or operational purchasing, ideally in the field of mechanical components or assemblies.
• Strong negotiation skills in international supplier environments.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); German language skills are a plus.
• Strong technical understanding, analytical mindset, and excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and MS Office applications.
