Street Maintenance Worker

Job Summary
Join our dedicated team as a Street Maintenance Worker, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our community’s streets and public spaces. This energetic position involves performing a variety of maintenance tasks, repairs, and improvements to keep our streets in top condition. You will work with a diverse team to address infrastructure needs, assist with facility upkeep, and contribute to creating a safe and welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike. Your proactive approach and technical skills will help maintain the quality of our public infrastructure while fostering community pride.

Duties

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on street surfaces, sidewalks, curbs, and drainage systems using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Operate equipment such as loaders, backhoes, and street sweepers to clean streets and remove debris.
  • Conduct inspections of streets, signage, lighting, and other infrastructure components to identify issues requiring attention.
  • Assist with installation, repair, and replacement of street signs, traffic signals, and lighting fixtures following schematics and electrical diagrams.
  • Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automated systems related to street lighting or traffic control devices.
  • Weld or perform mechanical repairs on equipment or infrastructure components as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Support facilities maintenance tasks including residential painting, electrical troubleshooting, and general mechanical upkeep.
  • Supervise or assist with small teams during projects or emergency repairs to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Follow safety protocols rigorously while working with electrical systems, schematics, or heavy machinery.

Skills

  • Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in welding, electrical systems, and facilities maintenance.
  • Familiarity with schematics for electrical wiring and mechanical systems used in street infrastructure.
  • Ability to operate tools such as ohmmeters for electrical troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
  • Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in automated street or traffic systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with residents and team members.
  • Supervising experience in maintenance or construction projects is preferred to lead teams effectively.
  • Competence in manufacturing processes or industrial maintenance enhances versatility on the job site.
  • Knowledge of CMMS software for tracking work orders and maintenance history.
  • Leadership qualities that promote safety standards and team collaboration during complex projects.
  • Good understanding of residential painting techniques for aesthetic upgrades around public spaces. Pay: $14.00 - $14.05 per hour
