Structural Designer

Job Role:

The Structural Draftsman cum Designer is responsible for preparing detailed structural drawings, layouts, and design documentation for various types of buildings and infrastructure projects. The role involves coordinating with engineers, architects, and site teams to ensure accurate and efficient design delivery according to project specifications, standards, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare structural drawings (plans, sections, elevations, and details) using AutoCAD or other drafting software.
• Assist structural engineers in designing structural components such as beams, columns, slabs, foundations, and steel structures.
• Develop shop drawings as-built drawings in accordance with project requirements.
• Coordinate with architectural and MEP teams to ensure proper integration and clash-free structural design.
• Ensure all drawings and designs comply with Dubai Municipality regulations, authority requirements, and relevant building codes.
• Prepare and submit drawings for authority approvals (Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, DDA, etc.) and follow up for comments, revisions, and approvals.
• Incorporate comments and feedback from consultants, authorities, and engineers to maintain compliance with project standards.
• Review and modify designs based on site conditions or engineering inputs.
• Coordinate with project engineers and site teams to resolve technical and drawing-related issues.
• Maintain drawing documentation, revision logs, and issue records in an organized manner.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and assist in cost estimation when required.
• Participate in design coordination meetings and contribute to technical discussions for structural solutions.

Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, Etabs, MS Office etc.
• Strong understanding of structural design principles and construction methods.
• Knowledge of international and local building codes (e.g., BS, ACI, ASCE, or UAE standards).
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Educational Qualification:

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or Drafting Technology
