About JSE –
Jones Structural Engineering (JSE) specializes in the evaluation of existing structures through forensic condition assessments and offers practical and cost-effective repairs to improve building performance and asset longevity. We are located in Louisville, Kentucky and work with existing property owners, prospective buyers, property managers, contractors and attorneys primarily in the residential marketspace. To provide additional bandwidth, we are seeking a detail-oriented licensed professional engineer (P.E.) to assist with deliverable production following the principal engineer’s condition assessments, allowing us to serve an ever-growing client base in need of expert assistance.
About the Role –
This new position encompasses structural analysis of isolated elements / systems, review of building codes and technical references, report writing, preparation of repair drawings, development of floor elevation surveys, peer review, other project-specific tasks, and refinement of internal templates to improve repeatability. The engineer should communicate clearly and confidently, maintain professional boundaries, and approach work with curiosity, integrity, and a desire to continue learning. The engineer in this role should be capable of designing building elements, performing traditional sanity-checks on results, and be able to visualize structures and components conceptually. Construction field experience or a related hands-on background is highly desirable. Current Kentucky P.E. licensure not required for the initial hire but a valid P.E. license in a U.S. state is, with the intent and ability to apply for a Kentucky P.E. license in time.
