Structural Fitter/fabricator

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Fitter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in welding, Blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge to fabricate and assemble structural components.

Job Summary:

• Assembles, fits and welds to drawing dimensions all kinds of structural, plate, and mechanical materials into all types of assemblies.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Must be proficient in the full skills of the trade.
• Receives instructions, prints, sketches, and work orders.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and plans the fitting operation.
• Directs and assists in handling and spreading of material, assembling material into required relationships according to detail drawings; handling and placing detail material in assembly, placing bolts, drift pins and other fastening devices in proper location.
• Does minor layout.
• Fitting of components.
• Double check layout versus drawing.
• Work hand in hand with welders to finalize assemblies.
• Welds a large variety of materials by shield, submerged, gas, filler arc, etc.
• Welds in all positions with a high degree of proficiency utilizing full skills of the trade including knowledge of common heat reactions of structural metals and is certifiable.
• Receives working instructions and follows welding procedures.
• Moves material to and from the work area.
• Moves welding equipment to material when necessary.
• Position component parts on a table held by a fixture or jib, tacking when required. Welds on ground level, above ground, and below ground, in any require position.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· At least five years of similar experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of being on your feet and walking thought the shop.

· Physically able to work in an unconditioned environment.

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
