Get a glimpse of what makes Tipping a great firm through our internship position. During the ten-to-twelve-week program, individuals gain realistic engineering responsibilities while experiencing firsthand the unique qualities that make ours a vibrant learning community.
Internship Highlights
General development of structural design supported by calculations and drawings
Exposure to different phases of the design process, from design development to construction administration (dependent on project phase availability)
Collaboration with a project manager, supervisor, and larger team in the development of a projects design
Development of building code and standards application to structural designs
Job-site visits with a senior engineer to gain perspective on our role at an active construction site
Our Ideal Candidate:
has earned a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering by the start of the internship, and may be in pursuit of a masters degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on structures;
has coursework experience in structural analysis and design of steel and/or concrete structures.
thrives on collaborating and communicating with others;
is adaptable and willing to equally consider the diverse opinions and solutions of others; and
strives toward excellence and continually innovates for learning and improvement.
Preferred Experience and Education
Coursework in structural dynamics and earthquake engineering
Coursework in design of timber and masonry structures
FE/EIT certification
Structural analysis and design software skills, specifically in RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, and RISA-3D
Drafting software skills, specifically in Autodesks AutoCAD and Revit programs
Prior internship experience with a design firm
