ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY


SUMMARY: The Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is currently searching for 21 Undergraduate Student Assistants (20 hours per week * 8 weeks) to work on the California Learning Lab Grant-funded project titled “Engineering Pathway Program (EPP)” under the supervision of Dr. M. Ronald Yeung, Principal Investigator (PI) in the College of Engineering.


SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

  • The undergraduate student assistant, acting as a tutor, will deliver individual or small group tutoring sessions online for subjects including Statics (C-ID ENGR 130), Engineering Graphics (C-ID ENGR 150), Surveying (C-ID ENGR 180), Programming and Problem-Solving in MATLAB (C-ID ENGR 220), Dynamics (C-ID ENGR 230), Strength of Materials (C[1]ID ENGR 240), and Circuit Analysis (C-ID ENGR 260).
  • Responsibilities encompass clarifying challenging concepts, reviewing course materials, and crafting diagnostic assessments, all while maintaining an engaging and easily understandable approach.
  • These virtual tutoring sessions must be offered either during weekdays or on weekends.
  • Maintaining academic integrity standards and encouraging ethical study habits are also essential duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in the Engineering Program.
  • Successfully completed the required course (Statics, Engineering Graphics/Drafting, Surveying, MATLAB, Dynamics, Strength of Materials/Mechanics of Materials, and/or Circuit Analysis), achieving a grade of B+ or higher

PREFERRED:

  • Transfer students.

ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Enterprises offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Enterprises offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.

The Enterprises also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Enterprises and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Enterprises administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Enterprises contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
