JOB
Library Services is seeking an outgoing, reliable, and service-oriented graduate student to support library operations during evenings and weekends. In this role, you will assist with opening the library on Saturdays and Sundays and closing it each day from Sunday through Saturday, according to a rotating schedule. As part of the Client Services team, you will ensure the smooth functioning of the library’s public spaces by performing key opening and closing duties, including unlocking doors, checking equipment, and addressing facility needs. In the absence of regular staff, you will serve as the primary library representative during your scheduled shifts. You will also work at the Information Desk, assisting patrons with a variety of services, helping them navigate library resources, directing patrons to applicable library policies, and providing high-quality customer service both in-person and via phone or email.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assisting patrons at the Information Desk with checking materials in and out using the library’s automated circulation system Sorting and organizing library materials for re-shelving Providing basic directional assistance and guiding patrons to resources Supporting users with WEPA (Wireless Enabled Public Access) printing and answering related questionsRedirecting phone calls and inquiries to the appropriate library or campus departments Accurately recording statistical and usage dataMaintaining the confidentiality of patron information in accordance with library policy Assisting patrons during emergencies (e.g., severe weather, power outages, etc.)Reporting facility, safety, or service concerns to the Client Services Manager.
