Student Employee - (Library - Spring Quarter - 2026)

Description

The CBC Library is looking for student workers to join our Pasco library team! Students who believe the experience can be a valuable part of their education are encouraged to apply, with some positions requiring student work study funding for eligibility. Applicants will have the opportunity to work out of both the Richland and Pasco library locations. Work includes clerical work, customer service, maintenance of library material, and other projects.

Pay Range: $17.13- $17.13 per hour.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist staff in assigned department or office with the following:

  • Provide customer service to students, staff, faculty, and community members;
  • Answer and direct phone calls;
  • Interact with and protect personally identifiable information;
  • Check in/out items to patrons;
  • Basic assistance with citation style guides, formatting word documents, using cloud-based file management, the CBC website, and other software navigation;
  • Basic troubleshooting of computer-related and printing problems;
  • Complete inventory and physical shelving/shifting of book collections;
  • Staff scheduled hours at Pasco campus and Richland campus, as necessary;
  • General office duties (i.e., filing, data entry, etc.); and
  • Other appropriate duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled at Columbia Basin College:
    • For Non-Work study: enrolled in at least one (1) credit;
    • For Work Study: enrolled in at least six (6) degree-required credits, five (5) degree-required credits for summer;
  • Good communication, computer, and customer service skills; and
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish and English

PROCESS NOTE:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including having the ability to move materials on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc. and travel between buildings on campus. Manual dexterity and coordination are required to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.

Work environment includes office and other settings as appropriate. The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.

SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS:

A "no" answer to any question does not necessarily disqualify any applicant. Some positions do not require all skills and/or don't require any type of financial aid and/or work study funding.
