Job Description
The Roy G. Perry College of Engineering is seeking a motivated student with strong robotics skills to support activities in the Robotics Lab. The selected student will not only contribute directly to lab projects but will also play an important role in training and mentoring other students.
Job Responsibilities
Assist faculty and staff in the Robotics Lab with ongoing projects and experiments
Train and guide fellow students in robotics concepts, software, and hardware applications
Support the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of robotic systems and related equipment
Maintain lab equipment and ensure a safe and productive learning environment
Contribute to team projects, demonstrations, and outreach activities as needed
Required Education and Experience:
  • Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
  • Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
  • No prior experience necessary
  • For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least three (3) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours for the fall/spring terms.
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Minimum 3.2 GPA with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a lab setting
  • Demonstrated experience working on robotics projects (academic, competition, or personal).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Familiarity with common robotics platforms (e.g., ROS, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, VEX, LEGO Mindstorms, or similar)
  • Programming skills in C/C++, Python, or MATLAB
  • Experience with sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers
Other Requirement
  • Strong interest in robotics and a passion for teaching or mentoring peers
