• Must be accepted for enrollment or enrolled in school on at least a half-time basis.
• Students must possess a 2.5 GPA or higher by June 30, 2027, and must maintain this GPA to remain eligible for the program.
  
  

Qualifications

ELIGIBILITY:

Must be enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment in a bachelor's degree (or more advanced degree) program with a major in Computer Science OR working towards a related degree that includes 30 semester hours in a combination of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science from an accredited or pre-accredited academic institution. NOTE: At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must include any combination of Statistics and Mathematics that includes differential and integral calculus.

To be eligible for the GG-07, you must meet the following required education level: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree (or more advanced degree) program with a major in Computer Science OR working towards a related degree that includes 30 semester hours in a combination of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science from an accredited or pre-accredited academic institution. NOTE: At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must include any combination of Statistics and Mathematics that includes differential and integral calculus.

All educational requirements for this position must be met by June 30, 2027.

Program Completion And Conversion:

Interns may be converted at the discretion of the agency to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-5 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the program.

To Be Eligible For Conversion, Interns Must:

• Be a U.S. Citizen
• Complete at least 160-320 hours of work experience acquired through the Student Internship Program
• Complete their degree requirements
• Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted
• Perform their job successfully

Education

QUALIFYING EDUCATION:

• A high school whose curriculum has been approved by a State or local governing body, or a home-school curriculum that has been approved by such body or state.

• Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the secretary of the U.S. Department of Education:
  
  

(i) A high school or home-school curriculum;

(ii) A technical, vocational, or trade school;

(iii) A 2-year or 4-year college or university;

(iv) A graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or

(v) Other accredited educational institution.

Applications will be accepted from students who expect to complete qualifying education by June 30, 2027 . However, agencies are required to verify that the education has been completed successfully before any applicant can be appointed (report to work); therefore, your selection or start date may be impacted by proof and completion of all position requirements.

Additional information

This position will be recruiting students for the summer of 2027, though may tentatively start earlier if all security requirements are cleared and Education/Eligibility requirements are met.

Students will typically work a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) and will have to commit to working 160-320 hours during the summer months.

You may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions outlined in the qualifications section of this announcement.

Appointment may be extended beyond initial 364 days if student maintains enrollment.All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601.
