Student Mentor (Medical/Biology Focus) - PhD Level

Position Overview:

We are seeking a PhD candidate or PhD holder with knowledge and enthusiasm in Biology, Public Health, or Medical Sciences to join our team. As a mentor, you will play a crucial role in both individual and group settings, guiding students interested in pre-med pathways and health science and biology-focused passion projects, including research in areas such as disease prevention, biotechnology, and healthcare innovation. Assignment to individual or group mentoring sessions will be determined based on program needs at the time.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct both one-on-one mentorship sessions (1 hour per student) and lead small group sessions (5-10 students, 1 hour per week), with assignment based on current program requirements
• Provide personalized guidance while fostering a collaborative learning environment where students can share ideas and help each other
• Guide students through project development, from ideation to completion, both individually and in group settings
• Deliver targeted instruction on biological principles, research methods, and scientific inquiry
• Work with students to master research protocols through both individual coaching and group workshops
• Help students troubleshoot experiments and overcome scientific challenges through individual support and group problem-solving exercises
• Advise pre-med focused students on academic projects that will strengthen their medical school applications and deepen their understanding of healthcare fields
• Monitor and support individual progress while managing group dynamics effectively
• Organize peer review sessions and provide detailed, personalized feedback on students' work
• Collaborate with the Elite Minds team to enhance our science curriculum and mentorship programs

Qualifications:

• PhD candidate or PhD holder in Biology, Public Health, Medical Sciences, or related field
• Strong background in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Epidemiology, or Medical Research
• Proficiency in scientific research methodologies
• Experience with biological data analysis
• Understanding of current trends in healthcare, biotechnology, or medical research
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and group facilitation skills
• Strong presentation abilities
• Demonstrated experience in both one-on-one and group teaching/mentoring
• Ability to explain complex scientific concepts in an accessible manner
• Ability to adapt teaching style to both individual and group learning needs
• Patience and strong classroom management skills

Compensation and Terms:

• $50-70 per hour
• Flexible hours: 3-18 hours per week, based on your availability and desired workload
• Job duration: Minimum 8-month commitment
